Find best home insurance by 'shopping around'

Home insurance customers have been urged to 'shop around' to find the best policy, it has been reported.

The Strabane Chronicle has claimed that many people are paying too much for their home insurance as they incorrectly value their property.

In an article on finding cheaper home insurance, the paper says that when people buy a property they sometimes find that insurance is a requirement and can often end up buying the policy from their mortgage provider at a less competitive rate than other companies can offer.

According to the newspaper, "comparing the market is always a good idea" and cutting costs can be achieved by combining building and contents insurance.

It reports: "If time is a problem you could look into panel insurers who will find you the best quote from a range of insurers."

Earlier this week, a study by Tescocompare.com revealed that 64 per cent of people in the UK do not change household insurance when they get the opportunity, despite increasing costs.
