Some 68 per cent of people in Britain do not feel they conform to the typical household stereotype, new research has revealed.
A study conducted by Legal & General found that consumers do not feel they fit to the average stereotype of homeowners.
Indeed the home insurance provider found that an increasing number of people are now living in single-parent households or by themselves.
Garry Skelton, marketing director for Legal & General's general insurance business, said: "Brits' varied lifestyles are changing and, as a result, so is the use of our homes and this is having an impact on Brits' household insurance needs."
A total of 91 per cent of survey respondents said they felt their communities have changed significantly over the last five years.
Earlier this month, Legal & General found that as a result of the ongoing credit crunch, an increasing number of Britons are staying at home more.
