Caravanning 'alternative to expensive foreign holidays' - Motorhome insurance

UK holidaymakers are finding that the lower costs of a caravanning holiday, such as motorhome insurance, are making it an alternative to expensive breaks overseas, it has been reported.
According to the Herald, the increasing cost of living and the current strength of the Euro is making a holiday abroad an expensive option, with rising numbers of people turning to camping and caravanning.
In addition to costs such as fuel, self catering and motorhome insurance making the trips cheaper than foreign holidays, it is also suggested that the popularity of music festivals has given people the incentive to buy the equipment needed for such a vacation.
Jim McCulloch, manager of the Argyll Caravan Park on the Duke of Argyll's estate, told the newspaper that the camping and caravanning sector tends to improve at the start of a recession.
"The signs are very encouraging. The increase in interest lately has been marked - we've been inundated with calls," he added.
Last month, Jonathan Knight, editor of the Cool Camping guide book series, claimed innovations such as air mattresses and camping pods, which make the activity more comfortable, were making the pastime attractive to holidaymakers.
