A Scottish town has been flooded after a river burst its banks, home insurance cover holders in the area may be interested to hear.
The North Ayrshire town of Kilbernie has seen flooding reach up to 1.5 metres when heavy rainfall caused the River Garnock to swell.
Homes in the Mill Court residential complex were evacuated, although it is not known if they had household insurance cover, while as many as 30 firefighters were scrambled to the incident.
Steve Fitch, group commander of Strathclyde fire and rescue, explained: "One resident was removed from their home to safety while eight other residents were moved to the upper floor of their building and out of harm's way whilst preparations were made to temporarily relocate them."
The incident also caused the local police station to be evacuated after more than one metre of water poured into the building.
According to the Environment Agency, around five million people living in two million properties in England and Wales live in flood risk areas, meaning household insurance cover is desirable.
