Hertfordshire police remind about locks - Household insurance

Police in Hertfordshire are continuing their work to reduce crime and prevent claims on home insurance cover by remind people to lock their houses, it has emerged,
Over the next few weeks, police officers will check if residents are at home should they spot an unlocked door or window and will leave a letter advising about security if they are not, according to the St Albans and Harpenden Review.
Detective superintendent Mark Drew from the Hertfordshire community safety and crime reduction unit, told the newspaper: "We hope this initiative will help remind Hertfordshire residents how easy it is to help keep your home and belongings secure by making them less attractive to burglars,
He also reminded people to make sure top-floor windows are secure, as criminals can use ladders to reach these entry points.
Last month, Hertfordshire police have launched an appeal to find a gold saxophone mouth piece, guitar leads, a tambourine and a cabasa which have been stolen from a home in Welwyn Garden City.
