'Lock up garden tools' - Home insurance cover

West Mercia homeowners are being reminded to keep their garden tools under lock and key, which may reduce the chances of them making a household insurance claim, it has been reported.
Police issued the warning after equipment was stolen from a shed in Hollywood, taking a JCB lawn mower and strimmer, according to the Bromsgrove Advertiser.
They also revealed that West Mercia experiences around 1,000 shed burglaries every year and have produced a range of information packs to advise people how to make their homes, gardens and cars more secure.
PC Eddie Mills, Redditch crime risk manager, suggested locking up tools could have other benefits for household insurance cover holders than saving their gardening equipment.
"Often, burglars will use tools they find in your shed or lying around your garden to force their way into your home, so by improving your garden security you will be protecting your home against burglary," he told the newspaper.
Recently, Suffolk police told homeowners in the area to lock their doors and windows over the summer months to prevent burglaries,
