Burglar family caged - Home insurance

A family who formed a burglary gang and stole £30 million in property from stately homes has been jailed, which may interest household insurance cover holders in the aristocracy.
Five members of the Johnson family raided houses across five counties and carried out the UK's biggest domestic burglary at Ramsbury Manor near Marlborough.
To carry this out, the gang attached scaffolding poles to the front of a four-wheel-drive vehicle to smash down the manor's front door before stealing goods worth millions, including a 17th-century Thomas Tompion clock.
All five were found guilty of conspiracy to burgle at Reading Crown Court and sentenced to spend between eight and 11 years behind bars.
Judge Christopher Critchlow told the court: "This must be one of the most serious examples of conspiracy to burgle ever to come before the court, considering the amounts involved."
Yesterday, the Oxford Mail reported that 49-year-old Victor Webster was sentenced to three years and nine months for the theft of a laptop and other items from a home in Jericho.
