Smoking 'can increase home insurance claims' - Home insurance

Smokers have been advised to avoid a home insurance claim by not lighting up in bed, according to a source.
The warning comes from Torquay fire chiefs after a man woke to find his bed alight after falling asleep before putting out his cigarette, reports the Herald Express.
Smoke filled the property as the man rescued his daughter from her upstairs bedroom.
Martin Causey, Torquay Green Watch's commander, told the website: "This highlights the dangers of smoking in bed late at night and especially the life-saving importance of people having a working smoke detector in their home."
Both the man and his daughter managed to escape unharmed.
Elsewhere residents of a street in Preston were evacuated earlier this week after a house burst into flames.
Homeowners were cleared from their properties after firefighters became concerned the blaze could spread.
Gary Kiwanis, Preston fire station's watch manager, claimed the fire could have been started deliberately, reports the Lancashire Evening Post.
