'Insure against acts of God' - Home insurance
Posted :

Having adequate household insurance cover can be of benefit to homeowners affected by an act of God, it has been claimed.
Writing on Fool.co.uk, Harvey Jones revealed his house was struck by lightning recently, which destroyed his computer and modem.
Mr Jones' broadband provider replaced his modem, but it is his home insurance which will allow him to repair his existing system or buy a new computer.
"A handy reminder, if one was needed, of the benefits of having household insurance," he writes.
In addition, the article claims the common view that household insurance cover does not protect against acts of God is wrong, as most policies do insure their holders against floods, earthquakes and lightening.
Yesterday, the Herald Express reported that a house in Torquay suffered a fire after a man fell asleep in bed while smoking.
Firefighters evacuated the property and tackled the blaze, although the newspaper did not report if a claim will be made on household insurance cover.
