Check for extras on holiday home insurance - Household insurance

Those taking out household insurance cover on their holiday homes should check their policies contains extra features, it has been claimed.
According to the AA, those purchasing their home insurance from overseas providers may find it is cheaper, but the policy could not include some forms of cover which are common in the UK such as flood insurance.
However, Ian Crowder, public relations manager for the AA, said it is worth making sure that the policy contains some form of public liability or, if the property is being let, loss of rent insurance to cover for emergencies.
In addition, emergency travel cover will allow the owner to attend the property if there is a problem such as a fire or burglary.
Mr Crowder summed up: "If you're looking to insure a holiday home, these are the sorts of things that you really ought to consider."
Earlier this year, Moneysupermarket.com claimed that 40 per cent of property owners in the UK are not covered with some form of household insurance cover.
