Parents whose children are returning home after graduating from university should ensure their household insurance cover protects the items they will be bringing with them, it has been claimed.
According to Virgin, many graduates move in with their parents after they finish their studies to save money, but bring expensive goods back with them.
The company advised parents to look at their home insurance, to make sure their contents cover is sufficient to protect the extra laptops, iPods, TVs and games consoles that will enter their property,
Grant Bather, spokesperson at Virgin, commented: "Many students will have built up quite a collection of valuable items over the course of their degree.
"While some may have little monetary value, others such as laptops can be expensive and should be properly insured."
Earlier this week, online finance portal the Fair Investment Company advised parents to check their household insurance cover before allowing their children to throw a party at home, as some forms of damage may not be included in the policy.
