Household insurance holders thinking of travelling to Canada may be pleased to hear one of the world's biggest bicycle thieves has been arrested in the country.
Igor Kenk, who owns a bicycle store in Toronto, was arrested last month after a sting operation saw police plant bicycles around the city with officers observing who stole them, according to the International Herald Tribune.
Mr Kenk was spotted ordering an accomplice to break the locks of the bikes before he rode off on them, possibly leading to owners claiming on their household insurance cover.
After he was arrested, around 2,865 bikes were found at his shop, called the Bicycle Clinic, while Ruth White, the superintendent of Toronto police's 14 Division, revealed that local people often turned up to collect their stolen bikes.
She told the newspaper: "It had become the culture in his neighborhood to visit Igor to get your bike. People accepted it."
Last month, Conservative leader David Cameron was reunited with his bicycle, which had been stolen from outside a west London supermarket, although the vehicle was missing its front wheel when recovered by the Sunday Mirror.
