A19 closed due to caravan wreck - Campervan insurance

A caravan has been destroyed in an incident which resulted in a major road being closed and a possible claim on motorhome insurance, it has emerged.

Following a crash involving a caravan and two cars, part of the A19's north-bound carriageway was shut down, according to the Sunderland Echo.

The outside lane of the carriageway was closed by police in order permit the badly damaged caravan to be removed from the road, after the smash on Saturday (August 30th) at 08:25.

Due to the accident, which involved a Volvo, the section was closed for around one hour and, although a claim on motorhome insurance could occur, no-one was injured.

A witness told the newspaper: "It looked really nasty. There wasn't much left of the caravan, just a pile of metal. It's a miracle nobody was hurt."

Last month, the Daily Post told how one lane of the A55 near Penyffordd was closed after a caravan crashed into the central reservation.
