Caravan owners in Northumberland could be forced to claim on their motorhome insurance after the recent floods, it has been reported.
Guests at the Coquet Moor Farm near Warkworth found their pitches under several feet of water when the level of the River Coquet increased during heavy rains, according to the Northumberland Gazette.
Around 20 of the 80 pitches at the site were affected by the weekend's flooding, with some of the caravans still containing holidaymakers as the incident unfolded.
Jane Stronach, from Whitley Bay, told the newspaper: "We were due to spend the weekend at the caravan, but didn't because of the rain. In a way, we're glad we weren't here."
In addition, Debbie and Jason Johnson, from Newcastle, revealed that they had not arranged motorhome insurance for their new vehicle and could face a repair bill for the damage.
Last week, the BBC reported that at least three caravan sites in the area were affected by recent flooding, while people were also rescued by boat from their homes.
