Stolen caravans in Spain - Motorcaravan insurance

Motorcaravan insurance holders may be interested to hear that caravans stolen in the UK have been found in Spain, it has been reported.

Lancashire police's stolen vehicle squad found the six vehicles on campsites in Benidorm on the Costa Blanca after working with Spanish Guardia Civil and motorcaravan insurance investigators, according to the Lancashire Evening Post.

The vehicles, which were taken from locations across the UK, are thought to have a combined value of £60,000, with most of the new 'owners' of the caravans being unaware they were stolen.

Detective Sergeant Simon Ingham, from the stolen vehicle squad, said the team was making enquiries to discover who was responsible for the crime and bring them to justice.

He told the newspaper: "The occupiers of the caravans which we have recovered in Spain are often innocent parties in all this and it is unfortunate for them that they have bought what has turned out to be a stolen caravan."

In June, officers from the squad found 30 stolen caravans worth £750,000 in the resort.
