Caravans are helping to cut antisocial behaviour rates in Sunderland, it has been reported.
According to the Sunderland Echo, the UK's first "mobile youth village" is being used in the area to engage with local young people, which may interest motorcaravan insurance holders in the region.
The programme holds alcohol and drugs-free events in the estates around Grindon and Farringdon and provides activities such as a street dance tent, a chance to practice on desks, a football cage and a Nintendo Wii console.
In addition, a caravan on site can provide young people with support and advice on issues such as stopping smoking, alcohol and drug misuse, as well as screening services for common sexually transmitted infection chlamydia, the news provider reveals.
Since the programme was introduced in July, no antisocial behaviour orders have been handed out on the estates, while disorder rates on Thursdays to Sundays have declined by 34 per cent when compared to last year.
Jackie Clark, Northumbria Police's neighbourhood inspector for Sunderland west, told the newspaper: "The events are attracting a combined 300 young people, and you have to ask yourself what would those young people be doing if it was not for this?
"We've has no acceptable behaviour agreements and no antisocial behaviour orders, it's been a big success."
In recent motorcaravan insurance new, the Tree Tops Caravan Park in Gwespyr was recognised for its environmentally-friendly efforts when it was presented with a Bellamy Gold Award, according to the Wrexham Evening Leader.
