Ford has unveiled new technology which could improve safety when using a caravan and educe the number of motorhome insurance claims.
According to the firm, the Ford Kuga will feature a high-tech miniature rear-view camera system design to reduce blind spots when hitching a caravan or parking the vehicle.
The device allows the driver to view what is behind the car on a seven-inch monitor and is automatically activated whenever the vehicle is put into reverse.
In addition, the camera uses graphics superimposed on the image to indicate the total width of the vehicle and mark the vehicles centre line.
Joerg Luemmen, Ford systems engineer, commented: "Many customers lack confidence when manoeuvring in tight spaces or hitching a caravan to their vehicle."
He suggested the new technology will allow them to carry out these activities "safely and accurately".
In other news, the Caravan Club has announced that the Skoda Superb 2.0 TDI has won the Towcar of the Year Awards 2009.
