Skoda wins caravanning award - Motorhome insurance

The Caravan Club has announced the winner of its Towcar of the Year Awards 2009, which may be news to motorhome insurance customers.

Defeating last's years Ford Mondeo Titanium X 2.5 T Estate winner, the Skoda Superb 2.0 TDI has scooped the title thanks to its design, load-carrying capability and value for money, the organisation said.

In a statement, the awards' judges said: "The Superb is what you'd call a thoroughly nice car. Our guess is that it will become one of the all-time caravanning favourites."

Particular praise was given to the vehicle's rear load compartment, which can be opened as a conventional saloon boot or hatchback and can take a full load of caravanning equipment.

Grenville Chamberlain, Caravan Club chairman, said Skoda should be proud of its achievements and predicted it could be a popular vehicle with the organisation's members.

According to Skoda, the Superb is one of the firm's flagship models and has a range of safety features, such as deformation zones and special support for the engine, while the car will automatically close off the fuel supply in an accident.
