Running costs 'important' with car buying ? Motorhome insurance

More people are making car-buying decisions based on running costs than last year, according to a new survey.
The number of people choosing their vehicle based on the cost of fuel, insurance and maintenance has risen by a fifth on last year's figures, to 45 per cent, according to the AA Personal Loans Car Purchase Index.
In news which may interest motorhome insurance holders, reliability is now seen as a secondary consideration to the cost of running a vehicle.
Another 18 per cent said they bought a new car or motorhome as they wanted to swap to a greener model, while safety features and upsizing were also cited as reasons for change.
Mark Huggins, chief executive officer of AA Personal Loans, says: "The current financial climate is making people reconsider their options when buying a car and looking for something cheaper to run is a good way for a family to economise."
Vehicle rental company Europcar has recently reported a new car alongside some more efficient driving techniques could result in fuel cost savings of up to £800 a year.
