New consultation on road safety

The government is to hold a consultation into improving the safety of the UK's roads, which may be news to those with motorcaravan insurance.
Jim Fitzpatrick, road safety minister, said the initiative will help the police tackle problems such as drink and drug driving.
The consultation cites independent research which found one in five motorists killed in road accidents could have some form of impairing drug in their system and will examine whether it is feasible to introduce a new offence for driving while under the influence of narcotics.
In addition, it outlines that £2 million will be channelled towards the introduction of new digital breath testing equipment, in order for police to be able to make greater use of targeted drink driving checkpoints.
Mr Fitzpatrick commented: "To tackle this we must crack down on the most dangerous drivers - the selfish minority whose reckless behaviour can have a catastrophic impact on innocent victims and their families."
Earlier this month, the Department for Transport unveiled a new initiative to make children more aware of road safety.
