Consumers encouraged to update policies

Britons have been urged to update their home contents insurance policies to include the new gadgets and gifts that they received for Christmas.
Online firm insuresupermarket.com says that customers often move to change their insurance policy ahead of the festive period, but warn that it is equally imperative to do so now.
The outfit claims that this year's top sellers on the Christmas wish-list could fetch as much as £11,500 extra for consumers evaluating their house contents. Richard Mason, director of the online firm, is urging Britons to pay an additional fee of around £11 to ensure they receive the best coverage possible.
He advised consumers to ensure they were covered "for ownership of these items after the festivities are over". Mr Mason said expensive new presents such as iPods, digital cameras and TVs were typically the type of item to push contents policies upwards.
