Romantics urged to check policies

Loved-up couples planning to propose marriage are being urged to check their home insurance policies.

High street bank HSBC believes that with Valentine's Day approaching romantic Brits might be preparing to pop the question, but is concerned that with all the effort of setting the scene and buying the ring, getting insured might get forgotten.

Engagement rings are easily lost and at risk of being stolen, which is why the bank is urging all Valentine's couples to check their home insurance policy in advance.

"It's easy to forget practicalities like insurance in the middle of romantic bliss," said Stephen Young, head of insurance at HSBC.

"If you want to avoid heartache, or a big bill, make time to check your insurance, then enjoy preparing for your big day."
