Sundays 'most dangerous day'

A new study has claimed that Sundays are on average more dangerous than any other, with most home insurance claims coming on what should be a day of rest.
Post Office home insurance has found that more than a third of all household accidents happen over the weekend, but it also revealed that Mothering Sunday usually sees a fall in the average number of claims.
Its study also revealed that Sundays account for more than one in six of the total number of accident claims made over a week.
However, Post Office home insurance revealed that last year claims made for accidents in the home dropped by nearly 40 per cent on Mothering Sunday.
Friday is the safest day, with just one in eight, or 13 per cent, of accidents occurring on the last weekday.
"Sundays are traditionally a day when the whole family is at home and therefore there is a greater chance of accidents," said Mike Smith, head of marketing at the Post Office.
"In particular, men do odd jobs around the house, and on occasions this leads to DIY disasters," he suggested.
Mr Smith added: "There are probably fewer accidents reported on Mothers Day because instead of men practising their DIY they are treating mum to a restful day and perhaps going out for lunch."
