Insurance reassures on wedding day

Couples have been urged not to forget the importance of insurance amid the romance and vast organisation of a wedding.
The average value of wedding presents amounts to over £1,400, while the cost of wedding outfits and accessories is also high.
Newly-weds are thus advised to ensure that their home contents insurance policies are updated before and after the wedding, or to ensure that their policy will automatically cover the goods, MyFinances.co.uk reports.
Legal & General's Andy Sampson believes that by taking these steps newly-weds will have their nerves eased as well as being protected against all eventualities.
"With the stress of arranging everything for the 'Big Day' it helps to know that the extra insurance cover is in place to cover the wedding outfits and accessories plus all the wedding gifts future married couples may have, both before and after their wedding day," he said.
"Couples should just check that the home contents insurance cover under their house insurance policy or their parent's house insurance, if the wedding items are being stored there instead, is adequate to cover the additional value of their wedding ensemble."
A recent survey by Sainsbury's Bank found that 51 per cent of consumers, whose home contents value increased over the past 12 months, failed to update their policies.
