The 2006 KillSpills rally to Westminster to highlight the danger diesel spillages pose to the UK's motorbike and scooter drivers is expected to be the biggest on record. Held on September 9th, last year the event attracted some 2,500 riders in a bid to illustrate how even innocuous incidents can be fatal to the UK's 1.2 million strong motorcycle and scooter riding population. Department of Transport figures show that 300 motorcycle are attributed to diesel spillages every year, although it is believed many unreported accidents can also be put down to spillages. The KillSpills Rally runs from the Ace Café in London and ends at the Houses of Parliament, with riders from the Metropolitan Police providing assistance to KillSpills marshals The rally climaxes with a delegation from the KillSpills organising team calling at 10 Downing Street to present prime minister Tony Blair with a plan of action to deal with the threat of spillages on the road.
