The recent death of 17-year-old Nia Jones in Wales has caused fresh concern from safety experts on the present craze for mini motorbikes and quad bikes, amongst young people. Nia Jones was killed when the quad bike she was a passenger on drove over a ravine, the Western Mail reports. Of late, mini motorbikes and their relative have been the must-have recreation vehicle for young people. However the Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents (RoSPA) fears that there could be further accidents if people buy the bikes without thinking about safety consequences. Peter Cornall, RoSPA head of water and leisure safety, said: "There is a big demand for mini motorbikes, quad bikes and powered scooters from children. Parents may be buying them without fully understanding the implications. "The major problem is finding somewhere that they can be used without putting the rider and other innocent people in danger. The RoSPA advise that before buying a minibike parents should check for local, safe, legal riding places and invest in appropriate safety equipment and training.
