Diesel spills addressed by MPs

A group of MPs have called on the government to raise awareness of the danger caused to motorcycle rides by diesel spills. An Early Day Motion has been signed by the MPs which ask the government to address the problem of spilt diesel with vehicle users, manufacturers and oil companies. Motorcycling MP Bill Wiggin led the movement and MPs Lembit Opik, Stephen Pound and Peter Bottomley all signed it, along with 20 other MPs. Bill Wiggin said: "Diesel spillage is a real danger to all two wheeled vehicle users and it just shouldnt be happening. "We have an obligation to make the roads as safe as possible for all road users that's why I and my fellow signatories were more than happy to table this motion." The effort is part of the KillSpills campaign by the British Motorcycle Federation, which is designed to draw attention to the diesel spillage issue. Car manufacturer Peugeot is to showcase its new diesel hybrid at the British Motor Show in London next month.
