A daredevil stunt biker failed in spectacular fashion to set a new world record by jumping his motorbike 315 feet on Sunday, at a casino in Oklahoma. Southern Californian Trevor Gumm, 38, hit the ramp about 90 mph, sailed about 70 feet through the air and landed on a dirt ramp before losing control and crashing ignominiously. Gumm, who was riding a 450cc Service Honda outfitted with a custom-built, 4-stroke engine and specially designed shocks, suffered a concussion. "He didn't get full power on that jump," said promoter Tony Holden A carburetor problem may have kept Gumm from reaching the required speed, added Mr Holden. About 5,000 people had turned out for the occasion. Prior to the record-breaking attempt, Gumm had jumped 273 feet, 11 inches on a practice run and landed successfully. Currently the San Clemente native holds the Guinness world record for the longest motorcycle jump, at 277 ½ feet.
