Ferraris' ride on time in London

A central London crowd rocked to the combined roar of Ducati Corse and Ferrari racers yesterday, the multi-wheeled mayhem fuelled by the teams' petrol and lubricant supplier Shell.
A crowd of 20,000 people gathered at the Shell Centre on London's South Bank, to see last Sunday's Brno Moto-GP winner Loris Capirossi take on World Superbike championship leader Troy Bayliss in a duel of the Ducatis.
Capirossi was on his Desmosedici GP bike while Bayliss rode his Xerox-sponsored Ducati 999F06. The duo, which ran demo runs on a closed road, were joined by four-wheeled friend Felipe Massa in a Ferrari F1 racer, and a host of former F1 luminaries.
The event, hosted by ex-touring car driver and former Top Gear presenter Tiff Needell, was held in order to promote Shell's launch of its V-Power performance fuel in the UK.
After wowing the crowd and laying down tracks on the London asphalt, the Ducati riders moved on to a finer grade racing surface at Norfolk's Snetterton track, for a Shell dealer and customer event.
