Police officers in Hull could be on the lookout for cheap motorbike insurance after it was announced the force has just purchased a new bike to keep up with illegal mini-moto bikers.
The off-road bike will allow officers to pursue riders of min-motos across the city's open spaces and fields.
Bought with money allocated from the Home Office, the bike will be maintained by Humberside Police and ridden by fully-trained officers.
Kalvin Neal, portfolio holder for quality of life and community safety at Hull council, said: "The bikes can be loud and dangerous when used under the wrong circumstances and without proper supervision.
"The police bike will not only be used by trained officers to monitor the situation but also to take action in extreme cases when riders are not willing to abide by the law."
The crackdown on the miniature bikes was launched earlier this month, with the Home Office pledging £200,000 to tackle the problem in 'hot-spots' around the country.
