Moto GP Portugal: Six days and counting

Stock up the fridge because this weekend will see the penultimate round of the Moto GP 2006 tournament in Portugal.
There's plenty to get excited about, what with swanky new team Ilmor entering Garry McCoy in the race after completing a test in Jerez, Spain this week.
The Australian will enter as a wildcard for the team, led by ex-Formula One engine designer Mario Illien. According to the BBC, McCoy will debut on an 800cc model ahead of next season's rule change which lowers the maximum fuel capacity from 990cc to 800cc.
However, McCoy will face some stiff competition from Repsol Honda's Nicky Hayden, the only Moto GP-er to have scored points at every race this season. But he's staying pretty modest on the subject, saying that this week's race at Estoril "is probably the one I've got least experience at".
His title quest is no sure thing though – Valentino Rossi is edging closer and closer on his Yamaha and trails by only 12 points. It would be a sweet victory for Rossi, who won his first Moto GP title five years ago this week and has won four times in Portugal.
