High Performance Harley is born
A new breed of Harley-Davidson was welcomed into the world this Tuesday at the Intermot bike show in Cologne.
With a 1,200cc downdraft fuel injected engine and dirt-track inspired lightweight cast wheels, it really is a beautiful thing to behold.
Christened as the XR 1200 Prototype, its emphasis on performance, handling and sporting style combine with classic Harley-Davidson production specifications to create a high performance baby inspired by the legendary XR 750 dirt bike.
"We anticipate that the XR 1200 Prototype will appeal to new customers, including younger riders," said John Russell, vice president at Harley-Davidson Europe.
He also said that it was designed with the European market in mind and for younger riders who aren't necessarily looking for the classic Harley but admire the brand.
Matt Weber, ride and handling specialist for the XR 1200 Prototype (how amazing does that job sound…) said: "The bike really works – and it's extremely easy and fun to ride fast.
"It's pretty cool that it looks like a flat tracker, but for me the great handling is the most important thing," he added.
The Intermot show finishes on October 15th.
