Off-road motorcycles should require licences similar to traditional motorcycles, according to Chris Bryant, Welsh Labour MP for Rhondda.
The Welsh MP claimed that this will help tackle anti-social motorcycle behaviour, a problem he states is prominent in his constituency.
Calling the situation "a real problem that needs to be addressed", Mr Bryant believes that a change in licensing laws could help stem the amount of incidents involving off-road bikes in housing estates and cul-de-sacs.
Speaking on BBC Radio Five Live's Breakfast programme, Mr Bryant said "I get more letters and phone calls and letters about this. It's raised at more meetings with the police than any other issue in my constituency."
However, the MP also stated that more should be done to provide facilities for those who want to use the vehicles in the correct manner.
"Local authorities could and should do far more to make proper provisions so that youngsters who enjoy the sport can do it in a legal way without damaging everyone else's life," he added.
Last month, West Yorkshire Police launched a scheme aiming to clampdown on the amount of youths using unroadworthy motorcycles.
