Ducati Xerox has announced that Lorenzo Lanzi doesn't need to pack his bags just yet.
The Italian was told he will be kept on for the 2007 World Superbikes Championship and is due to ride alongside teammate Troy Bayliss.
Despite having a somewhat lackluster season on his Ducati 999FO6, finishing eighth overall and not winning any races, Lanzi will stay with the team in the hope of improving his performance in the coming year.
"I have to say that I really hoped it would happen because this year I have given 100 per cent, even though things didn't go the way I expected," he said.
Paolo Ciabatti, Ducati's superbike programme director, remarked: "This year has proved to be difficult for Lorenzo due to a variety of circumstances, but we are confident that in 2007 he will again be able to show the form he produced at the end of 2005 when he won two races."
The championship schedule has just been announced and will start on February 24th 2007 in Losail, Qatar.
