MotoGP team Tech 3 Yamaha has confirmed it won't be keeping James Ellison on its books for the 2007 season.
After finishing a depressing 18th overall in this year's championship, Ellison has been dropped in favour of France's Sylvain Guintoli.
The Tech 3 team will consist of Guintoli and Japanese rider Makato Tamada - leaving no room for Ellison, who was the only Brit in the competition this year. Spaniard Carlos Checa will also be given his P45 from Yamaha.
Ellison's biking future now looks decidedly uncertain, with the admission that worries over his team had affected his performance.
"If you know where you're going, you've got something to work towards, but it's not so easy to concentrate when your future hangs in the balance," he said in his regular column for BBC Sport.
New Tech 3 rider Tamada will make the switch from the Konica Minolta Honda team.
