A UK bike enthusiast has used his love for the sport to raise £4,000 for charity and ride 2,500 miles across South African terrain.
Max Wilson, 46, took part in the Enduro Africa 2006 event, which lasts for two weeks and raises money to buy off-road motorbikes for Zimbabwean medical staff, reports Peterborough Today.
And Mr Wilson, who described the challenge as "tiring, but great fun", said that he committed to extra training before the event, because although he is used to riding motorbikes, "off-roading is completely different".
The race, for the Riders for Health charity, took place across rough and isolated terrain, with temperatures reaching 90 degrees F and requiring the participants to take to the roads for up to ten hours each day.
"Everybody who took part was willing to do everything they could to raise cash for such a worthy cause," Mr Wilson added.
Registration for next year's Enduro Africa event has now begun.
