Japanese motorcycles 'transformed market'

The influx of Japanese motorcycles transformed the UK market by offering value for money and reliability, one expert has claimed.
According to Randal Thomas, motorcycle editor at EurotaxGlass's, models manufactured by Japanese firms also provided customers with "state of the art" features such as electric starting, while providing quality bikes at the same time.
However, this is in stark comparison to the recent increase in Chinese motorcycle imports to the UK, which increased by 75 per cent in 2006.
Chinese brands, Mr Thomas continues, may offer competitive prices but often fail to meet certain standards of customer care.
"Some of the businesses importing Chinese-branded machines have invested to provide a decent service," he said. "Others simply can't or won't make the effort to back up their customer care promises."
Various Japanese motorcycle brands include Honda, Suzuki and Yamaha.
