Bike fans may be inspired by recent news of a 90-year-old woman taking a Valentine's Day ride on a motorcycle.
Dot Wilkinson is proof that romance (or biking) never goes out of fashion, for February 14th - which is also the great-grandmother's birthday - featured her debut on a Harley-Davidson.
According to the Stratford Herald, Dot was surprised when her friend, Vic Scrivens, arrived at her house on a hog and proceeded to whisk Dot away for a birthday lap of the aerodrome in Wellesbourne.
Although she had never been on a Harley before, Dot donned her leathers and rode on the backseat behind Vic, also showing the paper a picture of her on a motorbike with her late husband, Ted.
Harley-Davidsons adopted the nickname of "hogs" in 1920, when a team that won many races used a hog as their mascot, putting it on the backseat of a Harley and doing a victory lap. The term is now generally used to refer to most large motorbikes.
