Motorcycle sales increased in the UK last month, as did new motorbike registration figures, it has been revealed.
Citing figures from the Motorcycle Industry Association, Motor Cycle News reports that new motorcycle registration figures increased by 7.8 per cent in February compared to the same period last year and total bike sales for the month were up by 12 per cent.
Consumers who purchased a new bike last month would be advised to make sure that their motorcycle insurance is up-to-date before taking them out on the road.
Motor Cycle News also revealed the top five best selling bikes of last month, with the most popular bike being the Yamaha R6 followed by the Baotian BT49QT-9, Honda CBR1000RR, Suzuki GSX-R1000 and Suzuki GSX-R600.
"The car market has seen a drop this month in comparison with last year, so perhaps more people are actually recognising the benefits of motorcycling – a cheaper, congestion busting mode of transport," commented Craig Carey-Clinch, director of public affairs at the Motorcycle Industry Association.
Also cited as a possible reason for the increase in sales was the recent spell of mild weather.
