Following on from their 20,000-mile motorbike trip around the world, Ewan McGregor and riding pal Charley Boorman have embarked on yet another marathon journey.
The duo, who rode from London to New York three years ago, will this time travel to the southernmost tip of Africa, after setting off from John O'Groats last Sunday.
Using traditional maps instead of snazzy satnavs, the pair hope to visit a number of Unicef projects along the way and support various charities, while entitling the trip The Long Way Down.
"[The] Long Way Down is an opportunity to fulfill a dream for Charley and me," said McGregor.
"That's why we want to help try and fulfill the dreams of others too - especially children - and will do what we can to raise money and awareness for Unicef's work in Africa through this trip."
According to the Scotsman, BMW has supplied the duo with R1200GS Adventure bikes for the trip.
"The bikes are totally standard - we've fitted some crash bars and some luggage holders but other than that, they're the same as you would see in the shops," a spokesperson for the automotive firm remarked.
