As spring switches gear and summer hits, Honda has been rolling out tips for motorcyclists returning to the saddle.
The motorcycle manufacturer said the most important thing for motorcyclists who have taken a winter break is to clean their bike - and give it a good check over in the process, reports Easier.
Levers, pedals and lights should all be checked to see if they are working, brakes should be examined for wear and oil, and the chain should be adjusted, the firm said.
The operation of cables and should also be looked at, with lubricant being applied where necessary.
Meanwhile tyres should be checked for tread depth and condition; engines, brake hoses and fork seals for any leaks; and oil and filters should be changed.
Dave Hancock, head of customer service operations and technical development at Honda, said: "It's essential that you go through your bike thoroughly and ensure that it's safe and ready to ride."
"This should be your spring health check, ensuring that you're confident with the bike's condition when you roll off your driveway for your first ride of the year," he added.
A careful stretch before getting on the bike for the first time after a long winter break is also recommended.
