The stakes remain high in the run-up to this weekend's race at Mugello in Italy, which will be the sixth round in the MotoGP World Championship.
Situated in Tuscany, the circuit for the Gran Premio D'Italia Alice is said by the tournament's official website to be one of the toughest and most challenging for all riders involved.
The track clocks in at 5,245 metres and has a superb 1,141-metre straight which could allow the hungry bikers to really get some speed up, while a total of 11 turns will certainly test their mettle.
Leading the pack going into Mugello is Casey Stoner, followed by Valentino Rossi who is 21 points behind the Australian after five races.
Dani Pedrosa (third place) and Marco Melandi (fourth place) are separated by just one point, raising the tension up another notch for what will surely be a fantastic race.
