The number of motorbike insurance claims could increase next week as the annual Isle of Man TT festival takes place, it was suggested today.
Jeff Stone, media and PR manager for the British Motorcyclists' Federation, said the event is a "motorcycling paradise" and may provoke a rise in the amount of insurance claims.
However, he continued, it will not be "carnage", merely an increase due to the higher volume of people on their bikes in the area.
"Something like 22,000 motorcyclists cross over to go to the Isle of Man. This year, it's the 100th year of the TT, so it will be very busy."
Meanwhile, Mr Stone also commented on the popularity of motorbikes, stating that people aged between 32 and 45 tend to be the group most enthusiastic about the method of transport.
"That's where the bulk of motorcyclists are these days," he concluded.
