Riders offered security-checking service

Keen motorcyclists looking to buy a new bike are being advised to take up an offer from Motorcycle News (MCN), which will provide information on a second-hand vehicle for £29.99.
According to the publication's official website, MCN Bikecheck can supply up to 26 different pieces of data from a registration number - which could help those who want to make a more informed purchase.
Would-be riders can check out five different bikes for the price, which MCN says can protect drivers from buying a stolen vehicle or one that has finance still outstanding.
"Every year many thousands of bikes are stolen and many find their way back into the market place," it claims. "If you buy a stolen bike you will lose the bike and your money."
Information available with the Bikecheck service can relate to whether the vehicle has been exported, modified, data on its previous owners and whether it is being monitored by a third party, which could put it at risk from fraud or theft.
Bikers who do want to ensure extra protection for their purchase may also benefit from purchasing adequate motorcycle insurance.
