Pubs 'view bikers as a problem'

Many pubs see groups of motorcyclists as potentially problematic customers, it has been suggested, by a journalist who is eager to point out that today's bikers are not exactly the Hell's Angels of yesteryear.
According to Hamish Champ - city and business editor of the Publican City and proud owner of a Triumph Spirit ST 955i - many drinking establishments give bikers a "less-than-wholesome" reaction.
Writing in the Publican, Champ says riders aren't the types to mix booze and bikes - they're more likely to have a soft drink and admire each others' machines.
"I don't know any bikers who cause trouble in pubs nor who drink large quantities of alcohol and then ride off into the sunset," he states.
"I'm sure there are bikers who do, and they are at risk of doing themselves - and possibly others - serious injury. To put it politely."
The Publican focuses on news for the pub and bar sector.
