More females are choosing to take to the open road on a motorbike although the market is still dominated by men, new research has suggested.
In news which may be of interest to women's insurance or motorbike insurance customers, a survey by elephant.co.uk found that the number of female riders has nearly doubled in the past three years, Female First reports.
And it was also discovered that bikers over the age of 40 are more likely to crash that those under 40, which the company's managing director Brian martin said may be due to inexperience and careless driving.
"There seems to be a worrying trend of people that haven't ridden for a number of years jumping on powerful bikes and putting themselves in danger," he remarked.
The survey involved 40,000 bikers and was aimed at finding the profile of the typical 21st century biker.
In related news, motorbike insurance customers were recently given advice from police in Weston-super-Mare regarding the safe storage of vehicles and how to minimise the chance of theft.
