Pet insurance needed for house-moving animals

Pets find moving house even more stressful than their owners, causing many to need veterinary treatment, according to a new report. The Battersea Dogs and Cats Home (BDCH) has found that over a quarter of pet owners in the UK are unsure what to do with their pets on the day they move house leaving many unprepared pets stressed and unwell. However, almost half of the 1,000 respondents in the BDCH's survey said their biggest worry about moving was how their pets would react. This concern came above worrying whether the furniture would turn up, or potentially forgetting new keys. Phil Spencer, who stars on Channel 4's Location, Location, Location, said: "Moving house when it's only you and your partner is stressful enough, but trying to move with a dog or cat in tow is a whole new ball game. "Owners have to invest time to research and plan around their dog or cat's needs; from experience, the better the planning, the more enjoyable and less stressful moving house is." Stressed-out pets may often need medical attention, meaning costly visits to the vets for the millions of uninsured animals across the country. Pet owners are encouraged to find cheap pet insurance for their beloved animals, in order to cut down the added costs on an already expensive moving-day.
