Protect your pets from danger this Christmas

Pet owners are being advised to pay extra attention this Christmas as the excitement and various celebrations could cause dogs and cats to become anxious.
According to the Daily News-Record, many pets venture away from a house due to increased commotion from guests and assorted festivities.
In addition, materials such as curling ribbon, tinsel or sticky tape are potential hazards for any pet, as they could get lodged in a dog's or cat's throat and cause damage.
Anne Anderson, executive director of the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals in Rockingham, Virginia, said that pets are easily attracted to these seasonal items.
She added: "It's really just best to keep them out of reach of your pets."
Ensuring that a pet has an identification tag and collar could help prevent any potential mishaps, Ms Anderson advises.
Pet insurance can also help to ensure that various veterinary bills or reward incentives are covered should your pet be injured or run away this Christmas.
