The majority of animal owners do not possess pet insurance, it has been revealed.
According to a new study by Debenhams Pet Insurance, a total of one in four animal owners have pet health care cover, leaving three quarters of owners uncovered.
"Pets are family members too. We insure our valuable possessions, we should be insuring our pets as well," commented Diane Jackson, head of Debenhams Personal Finance.
Furthermore, the Bromley Times recently reported that a pensioner living in the area had her puppy stolen from her garden in broad daylight last week.
London was noted as a high risk area for pet theft by the Metropolitan Police in a recent study.
In related news, it was recently noted by Halifax Pet Insurance that travel insurance for pets should be taken out much in the same manner that it would be for humans.
Additionally it highlighted that the documentation process for pet passports can take up to six months to complete.
