Phone service 'could save small pet insurance claims'

Those looking for a suitable pet insurance plan might be interested in a new service from More Than, which aims to offer on-the-spot health advice for furry friends.
Vetfone is described as similar to NHS Direct and has been set up to provide diagnoses on the phone and possibly prevent the need for time-consuming and potentially costly visits to the vet.
In addition, More Than said it may also help pet owners to know when they need to make a small claim on their pet insurance policy and stop them doing so if it is unnecessary.
"It can be very worrying for owners when their pets become ill in the middle of the night and they don't know what to do," said Mike Holliday-Williams, More Than's managing director.
"Vetfone save them time and money in the event their pet doesn't actually need to see a vet," he added.
Household pets may display a variety of symptoms which could cause their owner to believe veterinary treatment is necessary - these could include limping, vomiting and indifference to usual behaviour or treats.
